Devon’s pubs aren’t just for drinking — they’re where everything happens. Birthdays, arguments, bad karaoke, proper Sunday roasts. Some are centuries old, others are barely standing, but they’ve all got a story. Whether you’re in the middle of Plymouth or lost in some coastal village, you’ll find locals, laughter, and usually a decent pint. No pretence, just pubs doing what pubs do best.

A Haven for Beer Enthusiasts

Devon’s a cracking place if you like your beer. Loads of pubs here keep it local. Proper ales from down the road, pulled by people who know what they’re doing. Some of them even make it into that CAMRA book, if you care about that sort of thing. Whether you’re into dark stouts, crisp bitters, or some weird grapefruit-infused thing from a garage brewery, there’s usually something decent on tap. And if there’s a beer festival going, even better.

The Culinary Delights of Devon's Pubs

The food in Devon pubs can be hit or miss but when they get it right, it’s spot on. Plenty of places use proper local stuff: veg from nearby farms, meat from just down the road, and fish that probably swam past that morning. You’ll still find your classics like a roast or a decent pie, but now and then they throw in something fancy too. It’s not about fine dining, it’s about good grub, done well, in a place where you’d happily stay for another pint afterwards.
